Dream Big Journals & Invitations

Yesterday, I showed you the party decor from our slumber retreat at church. Today, I thought I would show you a few more details. As I mentioned, I made little journals for each attendee. They turned out so cute I just had to share them with you :) I also made invitations and figured I would show them off too. First up, the invites.

I like to call them invitations but really they are flyers. They had to include all of the information that the ladies would need. When I sat down to make them, I realized a simple invitation layout wouldn’t work, there was too much info. So I revised it a bit and made a different layout than a traditional invitation. Again, I took a bunch of inspiration from stuff I’ve pinned on Pinterest. After they were completed, I put them in a mini brown paper sack. They are so cute it kills me :)

I found the dream big stamp at Michaels. For the backside of the invitation, I added a fun patterned paper that was left over from the journals I made. Each one was different which made it even more fun!

The invitation/flyer. I really love how it turned out. The only thing I was bummed about was the title at the top could have been bigger. When you are working on a large computer screen it looks big and then you print it and it’s way smaller than you think. I normally do a print test but by the time I got to this point it was already midnight and I had to have them done by church the next morning. I always seem to work late at night. I really should get an earlier start next time :)

And for those of you who watch out for me (thank you by the way!), the address and phone number at the bottom is the church information which is already public online so I figured it didn’t matter if I posted it here.

Now, moving onto the little journals.

I started off with some thick pink-red chipboard for the cover. Each cover was different. Again, I used the dream big stamp from Michaels but this time I embossed it.

The first page had a spot for the date and a title if you wanted to add one. Each journal was different and that was part of the fun. It made it really fun for me to make them and I sort of got attached to them and wanted to keep them all :)

I put a handmade pocket in each of them. Fun, fun.

I also added a list paper of some sort. Again, each one was different.

I made tiny envelopes for each of them too. Most of them were made out of graph paper but there was a variety. I also added a little tab to one of the pages.

I bought all of the papers from Michaels. They are a variety of companies but I know I used some Cosmo Cricket and K & Co. I can’t remember the rest :)

More fun graph paper. I really love graph paper!

The stickers I added came from my own collection and I have had some of them for forever so I don’t remember where most of them came from. I do know that the one above is from K & Co.

There are 8 pages for each journal. The Top Secret is from Knock, Knock.

And lastly, the back cover. After I sorted all of the pages, I punched and spiral bound them using my Zutter Bind-it-all. I think spiral binding is so much easier to use than rings.

Whenever I throw a party I always make extra stuff just in case there are last minute people who want to come. That means, that I have several of these cute little journals left so I thought I would sell them in my Etsy shop. There are actually two sizes, you can see them here and here if you are interested. They are selling for $6 each.

And that brings my party planning to an end. At least for this event :) I already have an idea for the next one.  But first, I think I need a breather :)

Oliver Is 4

Here lately the only time I post scrapbooking pages are when I make them for my niece or nephews. I really should rectify that situation. But first, I need to start scrapbooking for myself as well :) I really love scrapbooking. I just haven’t been doing much of it lately. And the reason behind it is totally lame. The reason? I don’t like going through my photos and taking the time to get them printed. I know, it’s so not a good excuse. There are many days when I really want to get out all my stuff and have a good day of creating but don’t because I don’t have any photos ready to go. One of these days though, I will stop being so lazy and get it done! Until then, I will keep sharing with you the pages I do have finished!

Oh Oliver, you are so cute! He is the youngest of the four boys (with my niece being the youngest of them all) and he is a super fun kid. Just his voice alone melts my heart and I love to hear him talk! He is the one that looks the most like my brother. How I wish I could see them more often! Especially when I realize he is already four. Unbelievable.

I have been super into imperfect polka dots and I had to try them out on this page. Fun, huh?!

A big thanks to my sister-in-law, Jodi, for always letting me steal photos from her blog for these pages :) Happy birthday Oliver! Jason and I love you so much!!

Scrapbooking: Noah and Lily

It’s time for another round of scrapbook pages. One for my niece and one for my nephew. I love these little people :) One of my favorite things about making their pages is I go through the past years first so I don’t make them too similar and I get to see how much they have grown and changed. It’s so fun to be an aunt!

Let’s start with Lily:

I have 4 nephews and one niece. When I make Lily’s page it is so fun because I get to use girl colors. Not that boy colors aren’t fun, it’s just that making things girly is even more fun! Lily is already two and she is so adorable. She has the most beautiful eyes, they will make the boys melt one day!

Noah came to be part of our family when he was 6 months old. He is one of the gang and we love him so much. What a little treasure :) This is one of my favorite pages I have made in a while. Of course, that isn’t saying much since I haven’t scrapped much lately :)

Happy Birthday Noah and Lily, I love you both so much!!

Christmas Items 2011

Originally I had decided I wasn’t going to make anything new for every jot & tittle this year for the Christmas season. I have had a really busy fall and just wasn’t sure if I would have time. But, I couldn’t help myself and I squeezed in a bit of time to make a couple of mini books kits for the season. There are very limited in number this year so if you really want one, don’t wait too long! Here are some photos of the kit:

It is similar to last years kit with just some adjustments. I always have fun putting these together which is why I couldn’t help myself and I had to make some! While I was at it, I also made a couple tiny mini book kits. They are very similar to the kit above, just smaller and without most of the accessories. They would be fun for a Christmas present for a relative or if you just want to make a December Daily book but don’t have a lot of time.

The large kit measures 7″ x 5″ and the tiny kit measures 4″ x 3″. It really is cute! And I thought it would be fun to put some of the red numbers in the tiny kit too so I made some on a small scale. They are the cutest thing. Just like the popular larger ones, just tiny :)

And for a comparison:

Aren’t they adorable? I added a set of just the new tiny numbers to the shop as well. If you don’t want the kit but want the little numbers, there are some there. So if you are interested, head over to the shop for some ej&t goodness :)

Button Invitations

I’m so sorry I have been such a bad blogger lately. I have had so many things happening in life right now and last week was crazy! I was preparing for an event a church that was last night and so since I was working on it all week I had little time to post. The funny thing is, I had the post almost all ready to go on Friday and with having a mile long to-do list for the church event I simply forgot to post! So I will share it today with you instead.

Recently I made some invitations for a baby shower with a button theme for a client. She had been searching for some invitations but they all looked to cutesy. So I put my thinking cap on and here is what I came up with:

My client came up with the little rhyme, isn’t it cute? I hand drew the buttons digitally so they would be less cutesy. I think they turned out really sweet. The rhyme wrap slides off to reveal the invitation underneath.

I have gotten rid of some of the info so the invitation looks a little funny :)

And the back of the invitation had a bit of washi tape to secure the wrap in place. I can’t make anything without washi tape these days :)

Invitations are one of my favorite things to make. I love personalizing them for different occasions and seeing what is in my head come out on paper.

I know I was a bad blogger last week and the week before but it is just about to get worse I’m afraid. We are having some more company come this week and then next week we are going on vacation. I will do my best but don’t expect too much :) Thanks for hanging in there!!

Hello, and welcome to my little blog! What started out as a blog to show some of my scrapbook pages ended up being a blog that shows all of my projects, ranging from scrapbooking to decorating to sewing to photography. I also run a little online shop called every jot & tittle where I sell handmade paper products. Take a look and leave me a comment to say hi! (Photo by Heather Smith.)
