DIY: 2012 Calendar

Every year I make my Mom a calendar as part of her Christmas present. She likes to take them with her throughout the year since they travel a lot. She says it feels like home when she has a calendar made by me with her :) So, I always try and come up with something new. This year’s calendar is my favorite one yet!

I saw a tutorial for gold leafing paper on The Happy Home Blog (check it out here). Gold leafing? On paper? Yes please!! Sounds like two of my favorite things! I already had gold, copper, and silver leafing on hand so I decided to do a mixture of the three colors.

First, I designed the calendar in Photoshop and printed it out. I made this one 8.5″ x 5.5″ that way I could get two to a sheet. For the rest of it I just followed the tutorial on the Happy Home Blog and it worked out perfectly! I was so pleased with the results. Here are the rest of the pages…

I didn’t have a design plan going in, I just started cutting shapes with my adhesive. It was very fun and moved pretty quickly.

Some of my favorites are February and November. What are yours?

Since I loved how it turned out so much I want to gold leaf paper like crazy! I will probably have to make some gift tags and maybe a poster for my house. I have a bunch of ideas… now to get started!!
