Sew Merry: Christmas Banner

Happy Friday to all! I hope you all are having a fantastic Friday and are ready for the weekend!

For the recent photo shoot I did of our friends, Josh and Kristen, I used a Christmas banner that I had made for the shoot. Kristen was hoping to use a banner and she didn’t have one so I gathered some supplies and made one. After the shoot, I hung it in our living room. I figured it should pull double duty this season :)

I used the paper wreath I made a couple of years ago along with the banner and I think it looks splendid! Here is how I made the banner:

First, cut out 14 rectangles out of your choice of fabric. I liked that the edges were left raw but you could hem them if you wanted to.

Next, I stamped them using foam letter stamps and black paint. I actually used a black paint that had some sparkle in it but you can’t really tell in the photos.

Once the letters were dry, using a hot glue gun, I glued them to a long piece of twine. Just fold the fabric over the twine and glue in place. You could sew down the fold for a more polished look but I wanted it to be quick and easy!

Then I just hung it above my window. Pretty simple right?!

You could also use it on your fireplace mantle or buffet or table. There are lots of possibilities here folks :)

Well, I hope you all enjoy your weekend! If you do any Christmas crafting, I want to see it!
