Sew Merry: DIY Pillow

Is everyone excited for the weekend? I can’t believe how quickly this week has flown by. I woke up this morning thinking that it couldn’t possibly be Friday already! I have a full day planned for myself, much of it involves cleaning and cooking but I love doing things at home and I’m thankful for it. And now, onto projects!

This past year we put some chairs in the entryway at church and so I thought it would be fun to have a pillow in there to make it feel comfy cozy. You may have noticed it in the last photo in this recent post.

I’m sure you all know how much I love making pillows from napkins because I have done it many times… and I decided to do it again! I found some napkins at Target on sale, $2 for 2, and I knew they would be perfect for the project I had in mind. I love when napkins have edge detailing, it adds so much!

Before I made it into a pillow, I sewed the letters on. I printed a template of letters and the then traced around the cut out template on felt. Then I cut the letters out and sewed them on by hand. Here is a photo up close:

Hand sewing isn’t really my favorite thing, it feels like it takes forever. But, sometimes, it looks the best and so in this case I chose to go that route. I actually completed this on Thanksgiving when I was with my family while we were all sitting around watching Christmas movies so it wasn’t so bad. After the letters were sewn on, I made a pillow out of it. Now that this one is done, I want one for our house :) But I have yet to make two. Mostly because I don’t like sewing by hand :) Anyone else feel that way?!

What are you up to this weekend? Any big plans? I have, slowly but surely, been decorating here at home and I have most areas done but there are still just a few things I’m hoping to accomplish. That just might be what I do this weekend :)
