Dykast Family Beach Photos
Yesterday I mentioned that we took family photos at the beach while we were at Kiawah Island and I have some of them ready to share with you today. Have I mentioned how beautiful the beach was? Because it was so, so, beautiful. Especially because we went right at that magical time just before sunset. We even got to watch the sun go down and light the beach up with brilliant colors. It couldn’t have been better!
I’m sure it’s not secret that I love to take photos. Especially photos of people. But when doing family photos it is much easier to have someone else take them. But, you do what you gotta do and we were the only people on the beach so we used the self timer. Aside from that, I’m actually pretty happy with how these turned out.
It can be a little tricky, placing everyone, saving a spot for me, setting it on self timer, and then running into the frame hoping I place myself in a good spot. As if being in the photos myself weren’t hard enough, I forgot my tripod at home (we used a cooler to place the camera on) and the batteries in my remote shutter were dead. Yeesh!
We also had to do some crazy ones. Because we’re fun like that. The photo above is us trying to look “cool”. What do you think? Did we pull it off? :)
This one cracks me up. We decided to do a jumping shot. The sun was too bright and so we couldn’t see the blinking red light telling us when the shutter would click so we just guessed. Not too bad for guessing :) The only bummer is the cooler that the camera was perched on created a shadow. I might have to work on Photoshoping it out :)
Then we split up and took some individual couples photos. This is Jason’s brother, Jon, and his girlfriend Andrea. This was the first time we all got to meet Andrea and we love her, she is so fun!
Isn’t she gorgeous?!
Then it was Jason’s parents turn. I had them walk along the water, thankfully the ocean was a pleasant temperature. Not that I would want to go swimming or anything. I mean, this was October for crying out loud!
I love them. They are the best in-laws a girl could have!
And then it was our turn. Andrea took these for us and while they aren’t sharp, I love the spirit that is captured. I really love my husband. Have I mentioned that?
It’s nice to have a photo of the two of us that isn’t a self portrait :)
Jason’s mom drew our last name in the sand for one last group photo just as the sun was going down.
One last family shot. This might even be my favorite :)
And one more of my husband. Because he is just so cute, I had to include this shot :)
So while taking self portrait group shots on timer isn’t ideal, I suppose it can be done!
