Before & After: Owl Bank

Last week something exciting happened, my Mom and Dad came home! Yay! It’s so good to have them back in town. My Mom and I didn’t waste anytime either because on their first full day back in the states we went garage saling and thrifting. We actually didn’t find much but we were so happy to be together and had fun so it didn’t matter.

I only came home with two things. A super cute J. Crew button down shirt for $4 and this fun owl bank that I picked up for 50 cents:

What is with me and owls lately? I really haven’t had any other owls in the house and then I find two really close to each other. Funny. This new owl is quite a bit bigger than the other one though and I love him. He has a crack all the way around him but it doesn’t bother me. Plus, it kind of got camouflaged once painted.

It was obvious to me that I needed to paint him and so I did just that this morning. Here he is with a coat of fresh white paint:

Ahhhh, much better. Everything is better in white. I saw a really cute owl at Anthropologie and I’m thinking about adding some color to him to make him look more like that one. Check it out here. What do you think? First though, I’m going to wait a bit because I’m still trying to decide if I want to use him in the living room or in Jason’s office. That will influence my decision of whether or not to add color. The wonderful thing about sprainting is, I can always spraint it again if I change my mind :)

See how cool it is? He is a piggy bank too. He’s not only cool, he’s functional :)

Now I have owl friends. Aren’t they cute together?

This morning I also finally got on the ball and sprainted my pear:

I’ve decided to use this little guy in Jason’s office once the other bookshelf is constructed. Sprainting… what would I do with out you?!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. Go spraint something, it’s fun!
