Photo 365: 2.2.11-2.8.11
Thank you for all of the comments about the kitchen! It’s fun to read them and I love to hear from people who have never commented before :) I will plan on opening up the cabinets soon and giving you a peek into what we keep behind closed doors!
On to Photo 365. Sometimes I am in a black and white mood. I always love black and white photos but sometimes I like them more than other times. Today was one of those days. When I started editing, I really wanted everything to feel moody and so I turned them all b & w. Here goes for this week:
50mm, 400 ISO, f/2.8, 1/80
I almost always take a shower in the morning but this particular day I had a lot of dirty chores to do and so I took my shower when I was all finished. As I was brushing out my wet hair I wanted to take a picture of it while it was still half wet. You might not be able to tell but it is :) I set up the tripod on the counter in the bathroom, focused it on my hand and then took the picture.

Jason and I each have our own computers, his is this laptop and occasionally I sneak some time in with it when he is busy with something else and watch shows on Hulu. We don’t have cable so the only t.v. we watch is Hulu. I positioned the camera on the tripod at the end of couch on the floor. Then, I focused the camera on the blanket about where the computer would be sitting and set it on timer. Then I scrambled to get comfortable before the timer went off :)

I found myself busy with stuff last week and most of my pictures were taken at night which means they are dark and noisy (grainy). This one was at the end of the day right before I slipped into my pajamas. We had stayed at my parents late while the boys watched the Super Bowl and I was ready for bed… but I had to take my picture first ;) Again, I used my tripod and self timer.

Here is a quirk about me you might find interesting (yes, I have many!). I only drink water with a straw and lemon juice. I don’t like the taste of plain water and so if it’s plain I have trouble drinking enough of it. We don’t really keep other drinks in the house besides a bit of coffee so I had to find a way to make myself drink water and lemon was the key for me. Jason laughs at how much I put in my glass :) I also always use a straw because I find that I end up drinking more. Try it sometime if you don’t believe me. While I was doctoring my water one day I realized I needed a picture to document my little ritual and so I set my tripod up on the island with the camera pointing down and I took it on self timer.

Another quirk :) Jason and I workout together everyday except for Sundays. We mostly do P90X but we also mix it up a little with running and other stuff so we don’t get bored. We love our time together and are thankful we are able. On Tuesdays we do Plyometrics which is jump training and we really do do a lot of jumping around. I thought it would be a fun picture to catch us in the act. I didn’t want to actually interrupt our workout to set up the camera and take the pictures since I take so many to get a good shot so while I was still in my workout clothes I did a few of the jump moves that we do while doing Plyo. I think it ended up being a fun picture. I set the tripod on the ground and let the timer do its thing :) You should have seen some of the outtakes, I make really good faces while jumping!
Check out Photo 365 every Wednesday and join in on the fun! I think this will be a fun thing for me to look back on when this year is all over.

Kellie, I really hate to be the bearer of bad news but lemon juice is very hard on your teeth! I too am a straw lovin’, lemon juice+water fanatic, but the last time I went to the dentist they actually asked if I could possibly be bulimic because the enamel on my teeth is so soft and that’s usually from too much acidity. We finally figured out that it’s from all of the lemon juice I put in my water! As much as I love it, I haven’t had a drop since and it’s been a few months. Once the enamel is gone it’s gone, and at your young age you don’t want that to happen!
I’m not a dentist or expert so feel free to ask around, but I did a little research on my own after my dentist told me this and I found the same information everywhere I looked.
It’s a bummer, but now I drink straight water.
Love your pictures by the way!
Love the crazy jumping photo! Someday you’ll treasure the fact that you could once be so airborne! xo
