New Old Couch

As I’ve been saying… change is coming :) Some of you might like the old better than the new and that’s okay, but I was ready for a change. As you can tell from the title, I got a new old couch. I wasn’t really even looking for one but it found me. I love it!

It all started a few months ago. My Mom was looking for a couch for her living room. I found this super cool mid-mod couch at a thrift store and told her about it. It wasn’t really the style she was looking for but it was only $65 so she bought it so they would at least have a couch for the time being and it was a really fun color. A few weeks later, I found another couch in velvet that looked more like my Mom’s style. I told her about it. Then I got to thinking, I’m the one that really loves the first couch, why don’t I take that one and she can get the second one? So that’s how it happened. We both got new old couches that we really love and are perfect for each of us. Of course that led to a bit of rearranging at my house :) I normally don’t show pictures until the room is done but I thought I would show you my process of how I am getting there. So here are the pictures before there is anything on the walls or pillows on the couch and it looks a little plain! But it is getting there.

Here it is! I love everything about it. The color is fabulous and I’m so happy to have a change in this room. This room has pretty much been the same since we moved here (4.5 years ago) and so it’s fun to switch it up a bit. The couch is in great condition. It used to have a skirt but I just tacked it up with my staple gun and it’s much better :)

living room 2

I moved the armoire to the extra bedroom for now. At Christmas time I had moved the round table that was in the craft room to the living room and found that I really liked it in there so now it is in the back left corner. Then I switched the leather chair for the mid-mod chair that was in the family room. Hopefully that chair will be recovered soon.

I found that little plaid throw at the thrift store recently and I love how it looks with the couch. A whole new direction for me. I still need to work on some pillows. I have some ideas, I just have to get there.

And here is another corner. I still love this little chair, it’s one of my favorite thrift store finds.

Next up is painting this room. Can I tell you a little secret? I already have :) I just haven’t taken pictures of it yet. I know some of you will be sad to see the pattern on the back wall go but for me, it was time. Any guesses as to what the new color is? I will give you a hint, I wasn’t sure what it was going to be until I stirred it up and put it on the wall :)

And just for fun, here is a picture during the rearranging. My Mom came over and helped me and we had so much fun bringing things out and putting them where we thought they should go. It sure does create a mess though :)
