Black & Brass: Music Sheet Art

You may remember from last year that not only do I decorate for Christmas at our house, but I also decorate at our church. Today I thought I would sneak in a couple pictures of things I have made for the church too.

Earlier this year I ran across this photo from greenweddingshoes.com

I loved it, saved it, and thought about how I could do something like that somewhere sometime :) When it was time to start planning for Christmas, I thought of the perfect way to use this idea!

I love it. It’s probably my favorite thing I made for the church and it was also probably the cheapest! I simply bought an old hymnal at a thrift store for $1 and then I bought the letters at a craft store for $1.25 each. I stuck the music sheets on the wall using sticky tack. Using my new favorite tool, our overhead projector, I projected the words onto the wall, traced them and filled them in. I even got Jason to help me color them in :) Next, we drilled holes into the backs of the large letters and hung them on the wall with nails. All in all, the project probably took an hour (with two people working) and cost $7.25. Not bad :)

Here is another picture up close:

The only problem is I will be sad when Christmas is over and I have to take it down. I just may have to do this again sometime :)

By the way, don’t you just love the wall color? We recently painted the entryway at church and every time I see it I love the color. Just in case you are wondering, it’s Newburg Green from Benjamin Moore. The club chairs in the picture are from World Market.

What do you think? Are you going to tack up some music sheets on your wall now?!
