Baby Shower: Favor Bags
Yesterday, I showed you pictures of a recent baby shower that I hosted at my house. In the next few days I am going to zoom in and show you the components that made up the party and even show you how I made some things. As I stated previously, if I don’t address something and you have questions about it, please let me know in the comments and I will be happy to answer your questions.
Each person that attended received a favor bag. I had them all displayed on the end of the table:
Today I will take you step by step how I constructed these bags. First of all, I found the fabric at Walmart for $1.50 a yard! I bought 3 colors, one yard each but I only used 1/2 yard per color for the bags so I still have some left over for a future project :)
First I cut a rectangle out for each one. My fabric was 48” wide so I made each of them 18” x 15”. I used my pinking shears to cut them out since I was leaving the edges raw including the top edge of the bag.
Next, I folded the rectangle in half so that it now measured 9” x 15” and sewed along the 15” side joining the two sides together.
Then I repositioned the sewn edge so that the seam was in the middle of the back of the bag. I ironed it in place and ironed the seam.
Next, I sewed along the bottom edge. As you can see I used a contrasting color of thread just for fun although when the bag is finished you won’t be able to see it.
Lastly, turn the bag outside right and iron again. And your bag is complete! Simple right?! To tie them shut I just used some bakers twine and wrapped it around the top a few times.
Tomorrow I will show you what was in the bag and I also have another tutorial for you! Stay tuned…
