Knitting: Plant Cozy
Yes, I am on a knitting spree. I didn’t even know that I liked knitting so much until I made the scarves! Before I tackled that project I had only ever known the knit stitch and I thought it was a bit boring. But when I started adding more stitches and cables I realized it was kind of fun. A little project I could do while watching TV. Even better :)
When I saw this post on Design*Sponge featuring the yellow basket weave plant cozy, I knew I had to make one for myself! Using left over yarn, I followed the instructions and came up with this:
Cute? I love it. I’m not sure exactly which room it will call home but I’m sure I can find a spot for it. That’s why I made it white, it can be moved around and fit in with in any room in my house. But for now it is resting in my entryway.
I’m thinking this basket weave pattern would be really cute as a scarf but I’m feeling like I probably could have too many scarves if I do that (since I’m still promising myself I WILL make a cable knit one for me!). Does anyone have any other ideas for this pattern? I love it too much to just save it for a plant cozy :)

Cute armwarmers come to mind – you know, those fingerless ones that go over the wrists? Not sure if that is the right term for them, but I bet you know what I mean. How fab would that patter be for those with some cool button details like you have….
Looks like your plant is nice and cozy :) Thanks for sharing!
That is darling!!! How about for cups/mugs? Or armwarmers. Or legwarmers?
Super cute, you could use the same idea for a cowl neck, similar to a scarf I know, over a lamp base would be cute, or votive cover.
So cute! I saw that and bookmarked it cause I thought it was cute. :)
Potholders, of course.
A baby blanket.
You know what would be cute? Knit some strips in different colors and sew them together vertically to make a little girl’s skirt. That could be adorable. Simple elastic waistband at the top. I’ll leave it up to you to do, but I’ll dream it up.
Or if you did it wide enough, you could do it in one color, then just have one seam to sew and add a waistband at top. Sew on some sort of stretchy interlock fabric to the top for the waistband. Perhaps in a coordinating pattern that matches the yarn.
Then make a basket weave scarf to match.
You could even do the buttons down the side instead of a seam (as long as kids didn’t undo them.
:)
Boy, I’m feeling inspired now.
i love that pattern. i made a throw blanket with a similar pattern for Celine. i crocheted it. i think you should try making a throw blanket with that pattern. it will keep you nice and warm.
