Gifts: Cable Knit Scarves
My dear friend Heather and I love Fossil. So, when we were there a month or so before Christmas and we found this scarf, it was love at first sight. After seeing it, I decided I wanted to try and knit one for Heather for Christmas. At this time I only knew the basic knit stitch (I didn’t even know how to pearl!) and I definitely had never done a cable knit. But I was determined :) After a bit of trial and error and a lot of internet searching, I think it turned out pretty well:
I found this pattern online and followed it loosely. I made it a bit wider and shorter and added a button hole and button. Once I finished it I thought it would be fun to continue in the test of my knitting skills and make a smaller one for Alana.
I love the baby scarf! They look especially cute side by side:
And a few detail shots:
Now that I’ve finished knitting for gifts, I think I need to make one for myself. I especially wish I had one for this week because it’s uncharacteristically cold here; in the 20’s! Knowing myself, by the time I actually start one and finish it, it will probably be done in time for next winter. Ha ha ha!

I’m wondering where mine is? :) VERY well done. Especially impressed because you said your knitting skills are basic!

Is there anything you cannot do? That’s my question. Those are GREAT!
