Women’s Prayer and Men’s Study
Hey everyone! It’s been awhile so I thought I would update you a little bit. A few weeks ago the men of our church started meeting weekly for lunch and the women started meeting weekly for prayer. (Who’s the more spiritual of the two?!)
So, since I’m not allowed at the Men’s lunch group I will let Jason share about that I will share about the Women’s prayer group. We had already been meeting on Thursday evenings for craft night and since that time worked well for everyone we decided just to start earlier and have an hour of prayer together as ladies. I can’t even begin to tell you what a sweet time it’s been!
I have been praying since November about doing something together as ladies such as a Bible study or prayer group and I felt the Lord leading us to start with prayer, such a foundational building block! I was really kind of unsure about it before we started mostly because I was wondering if it was enough. We would just be praying, not addressing any issues of things that are going on in our lives. Would it be better to do something else so we can discuss these things? Boy was I wrong! God had this planned and He has us right where he wants us!
We just had our fifth weekly meeting last night, once again I’m blown away by the sweetness of it. I can’t put it into words but I wish all women could experience what our small group has been experiencing. It is a time of refreshing and crying out to God and repenting for all of us. Sometimes we are quiet, sometimes we are crying, and sometimes we are non-stop praying out loud. I feel like I have gained a closeness with these women much more than if we had a Bible Study together, not that we won’t do that in the future, but it’s good to be where God has us now.
Last night after we finished praying we were reflecting on the fact that we come to the prayer meeting with a list of things and people we want to pray for and instead God directs us to confess and be humble before Him. We feel like God is refining each of us right now so that we can be more effective for Him. Talk about humbling!
He is doing a work in our small little group and I’m so excited to see what God would do with 5 women who desperately want to seek Him! So stay tuned, and I will let you know!

Wish I was part of it! What a great way to start building true friendships. I’m praying for you since I can’t be there with you!
Oh Kellie I just say amen and right on. Our prayer time which usually is 45 minutes to an hour before we dig into Bible study is what is knitting our hearts together. I love how the Lord’s leading is fool proof.
The first day of our Acts study the Lord whispered into my heart to go to lunch each week with whoever could go. About 6-12 of us (different people every time) have gone to Sr. Sams. It has been delightful to get to know these ladies. Wow!
Love You Little One,
Cindy
I am so blessed to hear of what God is doing and to hear your heart for your group. You are so encouraging Kellie, I can not tell you how touched I am, really.
I am praying for you guys too! Love, Kristen
A few weeks ago Kellie gave me a card. I have come to adore her cards to the point that I have a “Kellie Box†where I am saving them all. Besides the amazing design, they are chronicling some of the things I cherish most in life: our friendship with her and Jason; and Calvary Cleveland. But this card was one of “those†cards— a timely encouragement to say the least. After several failed attempts to sit down and write Kellie a note expressing what it meant/she means to me and the rest of us girls, it seems fitting to write it here:
Kellie, I thank God for sending you to us. Since I met you, I had an immediate respect for you, and what God has done in you. There are not many friendships I have had, especially with younger women, where I instinctively yielded the leadership of that friendship to the other person. I don’t know if that makes much sense, but I want you to know that I am not just walking beside you, but I am very comfortable (actually excited) to follow behind your leadership. I am blessed by your willingness and humility. Your vulnerability to “learn publicly†gives us girls courage to say “yes, Lord†rather than “who me??†We left Corvallis before I got to benefit from Cindy’s leadership there, but the friends I kept in contact with ALL said they were most excited by Cindy’s heart to be Spirit-led. Calvary Cleveland has that in you, too. The parents God gave you, along with His abundant grace, has freed you to be loving, light-hearted, creative, and “unâ€suspicious. Your pursuit of God will keep you that way. Your in-laws’ character has been a kiss from God. And what can we say about your husband? Well, Clark will have to “comment†on that in response to a Jason-blog! These are some of the very pleasant ingredients God has poured into you, creating a very fragrant perfume to us girls. Aristotle said “Wishing to be friends is a quick work, but FRIENDSHIP is a slow ripening fruit.†I look forward— make that WE look forward— to many fruitful seasons with you! (Sorry this is so long, but that’s really YOUR fault!) Love you!
Kellie,
I am finally sitting to the computer and finding out just what you are doing at your house. It was so interesting to read the update about your prayer time together. What a wonderful way to building your relationship with one another and for a closer walk with God. We are praying for your group that God’s Blessing will be on you, as you seek to follow God’s direction for you.
