Everyday Life: 02.10.12 – 02.16.12

Now it’s time for another installment of Everyday Life. Since I can’t seem to get in gear and do some things around the house, here are some photos so at least you know I haven’t fallen completely off the map :)

Day 10: Self Portrait. I have taken many self portraits in the last year or so. On this day, I chose to make it simple. I got dressed and ready to go and snapped a photo in the mirror :) Easy peasy!

I saw this at Target and I had to take a photo. Edible spray paint for cake (and probably other food). I NEED this!!! Enough said :)

Day 11: Something that makes me happy. He sure does!

I just had to throw in an outfit photo!

Day 12: Inside my closet. The inside of my closet is also on the outside since there are no doors. You can see more about this portion of our closet here.

I made cupcakes for Valentine’s day and I made them two toned pink. It was fun as I have never tried this before with cupcakes. I poured the light pink in the mold first, then the dark pink. When you took a bite, you could see that the light pink rose up in the middle. It was really cool looking!

After going to the store, I came home with these heart shaped Reese’s. I just couldn’t help myself! I actually bought them for Jason because he loves them and, hello! They were heart shaped!!

13. Blue. This is a blanket that we like to cuddle up in. It’s really soft and warm and sometimes we fight over it :)

14. Heart. I know some people can’t stand conversation hearts but I love them. I am very picky about the brand though and this year I had to search high and low for the right brand!

For Valentine’s day, we ate in and made pizza. I have been wanting to try a recipe for a cauliflower crust and it was the perfect opportunity. It turned out good and I loved it! The recipe that I used can be found here. Next, I might try zucchini crust

Although I like cauliflower, there was no way that Jason would eat it. He likes to stay away from any type of vegetables if possible :) So I made him homemade dough topped with feta, pecans, mozzarella, and caramelized onions and pears. It is a really yummy pizza and we got the idea from California Pizza Kitchen. If we ever want to try something different, I just go to their website and look at what toppings they put on their pizzas and then duplicate it or make something similar. We have tried some really good different combinations by doing that!

15. Phone. What the heck? How am I supposed to take a photo of my phone with my phone aside from using a mirror?! So I took a shot of the box. Works for me!

16. New. Lastly, I took a photo of this new-to-me vase that I found at Goodwill. Right now it’s in Jason’s office but it will probably make an appearance in another part of the house soon.

Well, that pretty much wraps up last week. It’s good I’m following the Instagram February Photo A Day or I don’t think I would be sneaking in so many pictures since I have been so busy. It’s also good because it makes me take photos of things I wouldn’t normally think of and yet, I’m still documenting my world. I’m enjoying it very much!!

I hope you all have a fantastic week!!

Everyday Life: 02.04.12 – 02.09.12

Whew! What a week! A very busy one :) And I thought that this coming week would be a little slower but it doesn’t look like it will be back to normal quite yet. It’s been really good though. I have had some time just to think and be away from blogs (reading them and writing them) and I think it’s been a good thing for me :) So one more week of being sporadic and then maybe I will get back on track. Until then, here are the photos I took from last week…

Outfit for the day: pink pants, navy blazer, white shirt. I love my little navy blazer and have been wearing it a bunch lately. I found it in the little boys section at Goodwill a while back for $4. A good investment I think :) The sleeves are short but I knew I wanted to roll them up so it didn’t matter. I especially love the gold buttons. Yay for the boys section!

Day 4 of the February photo a day challenge was a stranger. I don’t normally take photos of random people so it felt a little weird but I’m sure she didn’t notice. Again, I was at the best Mexican restaurant here in town. Sometimes I feel like I am always there :)

My breakfast on Sunday. I have never cooked an egg in the microwave before and I wanted to try it. I used a small container and I cooked one egg white + one whole egg. It puffed up so much that when I went to assemble my breakfast sandwich, I couldn’t even take a normal bite it was so tall! But it was super tasty! English muffin (toasted) + egg + avocado + turkey bacon + tomato = really delish!

My outfit from last Sunday. I’m realizing just how much I wear these boots because I wore them again to church today. I really should have them on a rotation or something :)

Day 5 was 10 AM. Since I was at church at that time I completely forgot. But I took plenty of other photos that day so it doesn’t really matter. The above photo was my first attempt at making applesauce. I love applesauce and eat it almost everyday so I really wanted to make some homemade. It turned out really good. I only used apples, lemon juice, and water. I really didn’t want to add any sugar or anything else to sweeten it and I don’t think it needs it. Next time though, I will add cinnamon!

On Monday we spent the day in Atlanta hanging out with some friends. We went to Starbucks and when the drink came I was surprised to see the Valentine’s day cups. I loved it! Have they always done that and I just didn’t notice or was this the first time? So cute :) Is it weird that I sort of wanted to keep it?!

Day 6 was Dinner. I actually had brenner (breakfast for dinner) at Cafe Nineteen in Atlanta. I had been there one other time and it was like a little cafe. But at night? A whole different story! It was like a club with rap music. We were laughing about it the whole time. But the food was really yummy!

Day 7: Button. Of course I couldn’t take a photo of just one button. Oh no, I had to take a photo of my collection! Buttons are prettier when they are all grouped together by color anyway!

Okay, so we have a lot of sunny days here in Tennessee. But on the one day where the word was Sun (day 8) there was no sun. Hidden behind a cloud all day. So, I drew a sun on my chalkboard and propped it up in the window. After the photo, I just put it against the wall on the floor and my weird cat has been licking the chalk off ever since. Is that normal? Or do I have the only crazy cat on the planet?!

And lastly, day 9 Front Door. Speaking of the cat, there she is. Posing for you all for my front door photo. Really, she’s weird :)

So there you go, another little glimpse into my week. A pretty good week I’d say :)

Everyday Life: 01.27.12 – 02.03.12

Goodness, I’m a little behind this week! At the end of last week I unexpectedly was away from the house all day on Thursday and Friday. And it looks like it’s going to be somewhat of the same for this week so I’m not sure how much posting will get done. I would have time to blog in the evenings when I get home but since I am away all day I don’t have time to get anything done around the house which means there is nothing to blog about! So please bear with me in the coming week and hopefully next week will be back on schedule.

Anywhoo… onto the daily photos from last week that I didn’t get a chance to post.

In December an Olive Garden opened up here in town and even better, we got a gift certificate for Christmas for OG. So Jason and I took advantage of it and had a date night on Friday the 27th. We went out to a movie (One For The Money) and then to Olive Garden. We had yummy food and a great time catching up since I just gotten back after being gone for 12 days. I love dates with my husband :)

Is anyone else completely in love with Downton Abbey?! Last year I watched season one so I was really excited when season two started. While I was in Oregon I got behind so I had a marathon session to catch up. Sometimes that is my favorite way of watching shows anyway. I love to watch one after another, I feel like I catch more because there hasn’t been a week in between!

I’ve told you all before that I work at a real estate agency on Saturday mornings and all of the office workers were given flowers as a way to show their appreciation for us. Isn’t that nice?! They were a beautiful mix of bright colors and mine are actually still alive even though it has now been over a week now. They will probably have to go soon though. Sad because I love fresh flowers.

I’ve already posted about my new duvet cover but I couldn’t help but Instagram it too :)

One evening I was walking into the living room and I noticed all of the cool shadows that there were so I snapped a couple of photos. I love shadows, especially when they look so proportionate to the actual object.

Just playing around with my phone’s camera. I took this shot of my dining room table. It was actually nighttime; I’m surprised at how well it turned out.

I have been adding to my gallery wall again. This time I added 12 new frames. I will have to post a photo of them all up. The wall is getting fuller and I love it!

I realized I hadn’t shot an outfit for a while so I did on Wednesday. The day was pretty gloomy and so I thought I would cheer it up by wearing some bright colors. I mean, you can’t go wrong with bright tights, floral and rain boots, right?!

I decided to play along with the Instagram February Photo A Day challenge. Day One: your view today. This is exactly what I was doing. Trying to finish a book I was reading :) I love to read!

Day two: Words. I had just gotten my new Elle Decor in the mail and was perusing it. I don’t actually read blogs or magazines. I only look at the pictures. Then, if I really like something and want to know how it is done, I usually will read into it further. How about you? Do you actually read magazines and blogs?

Day Three: Hands. Do you want to know something weird about me? I think my hands look like boy hands. They aren’t overly large or anything, it’s just that my brother and I have almost identical hands except that his are bigger. So I always think mine look like boy hands. It’s funny how we view ourselves, isn’t it?!

Yay! Now I am all caught up! And just in case I’m not able to post until the next Everyday Life, I hope you all have a good week!

Everyday Life: 01.20.12 – 01.26.12

Ahhhh… it feels so good to be sitting back at home in front of my computer writing out a blog post! I returned home late Wednesday night am taking my time settling back in. It’s always a good feeling to know that I am glad to be home. I love our little life here in Tennessee :) Vacations are wonderful, but home is better. And that is a good thing right? Especially since vacations only occupy about 4% to 8% of daily life per year! Yay for home!

Now onto photos! Most of these photos are still left over from vacation but there will be one or two from yesterday :) Here we go…

As I mentioned last week, while I was in Oregon I stayed with Jason’s parents. My Mother-in-law made me the most wonderful lunch while I was there and I can’t wait to repeat it at home. A turkey-provalone-avacado-tomato sandwich on half a toasted bagel. Plus, some turnip slices, carrots and a couscous salad. Everything was wonderful! How is that for a gourmet lunch at home?!

I have 4 nephews and one niece. Their favorite thing to do is wrestle. Especially when my younger brother (their uncle) comes for a visit. It is always wrestling time. It’s pretty cute!

Noah getting ready for bed, already in his pajamas. Can you believe my sister-in-law makes pajamas for all 5 kids every Christmas? She seriously is super mom!

We spent some time with my Grandma and while we were there we looked over some old photo albums. There is a rumor that we are related to Abraham Lincoln through his wife Mary Todd Lincoln and this is the paper that maps it out. Whether it is true or not, I don’t know. I have never done any research to figure it out. The bottom name on the list, Iris Wolfer Yoder, is my paternal Grandmother.

Wrestling isn’t the only favorite pastime. They also love reading. And once you start reading to them it’s hard to stop because they all want to pick a book out for you to read :) And they are so adorable it’s hard to resist their charms!

My niece, Lily, turned 2 years old yesterday. We celebrated her birthday while we were there and she requested a duck cake. So, my sister-in-law, Jodi, made this cake for her. I was wondering how she was going to do it and I think it turned out pretty amazing. Lily loved it. She wouldn’t share her duck with anyone :)

Jodi and Lily share the same birthday. Since Jodi made a cake for Lily, I made a cake for Jodi. I had never made a multi colored cake before but it was pretty simple and I love how it turned out. This isn’t a very good photo but you get the idea! The kids decorated the outside with figures of the family made from candy. It turned out so cute and tasted pretty good as well!

I didn’t really take any outfit photos while I was there. I just never thought of it. But in this case, I was at Starbucks waiting for Jodi and my Mom and I snapped a photo. Gotta love leopard print purses!

My older brother (yes, the one with five kids!) is in his first year of nursing school. He is super dad! We got to go visit him at school one day and take a little tour of his classes. It was fun to see where he is spending his time.

Part of the tour included seeing the mannequins. It was really interesting. They can do so many things. I would really like to be there while they are working with them but just seeing them was good too!

And finally, after 12 days of vacation, we headed home. It was a great trip!

We had an awesome pilot on the way home. There was some reported turbulence so he flew lower than normal and then pointed things out to us. We flew low over Colorado and it was so beautiful. We got to see Pike’s peak and lot’s of snow. It made me want to go to Colorado again! Although next time, I hope I go when it is my idea rather than how it went down last time :)

Yesterday, when I was back in town, I went to the library. I sat for a bit and looked at magazines and I loved seeing Oprah magazine with the chalk drawings by Dana Tanamachi. You can see some more of them here and on her site here. She also did lettering for West Elm at Christmastime and it was so awesome.

Last night we celebrated a birthday for a friend of mine at a local Mexican restaurant. I almost always get chicken tacos on corn tortillas but this time I added avocado and it was wonderful! I love Mexican, it’s one of my favorite foods.

And that pretty much sums up my week and the rest of my vacation. Now I have to get back to work on things around the house but first I am going to go on a date with my husband tonight because I missed him while I was gone!!

Have a great weekend!

Everyday Life 01.13.12 – 01.19.12

I am still in Oregon these days and having a great time! I am trying something new out: I’m writing a post from my phone. We shall see how this turns out :) Let me know if anything looks amiss!

Here are some photos from this past week, taken on vacation.

Our day on Saturday started early with leaving at 5:30 AM. Here I am waiting at the airport, all ready to go. I was traveling light this time with just a carry on. That is a new record for me! Especially since we will be gone for 11 days!

Yeesh! We have had a lot of rain! First it started with a couple of dats of snow (which is unusual) to crazy amounts of rain and everything is flooding. More on that later.

I am staying with my in laws while I am here and this was taken at their house. There is a creek that you drive over to get to their house and the water was creeping up so high. Usually this water is about 3 feet lower! It never did spill over though. In the 30 years they have lived here that has only happened once!

I have been continuing with my workouts while I’ve been here but without my favorite training buddy (Jason) which is sad. I miss him :) we normally do P90X but I didn’t take any of it with me (remember, packing light!). So, I got the Nike training app and I have been using that. It’s awesome, I love it! And it’s perfect for on the go and even better, it’s free!

My little 2 year old niece. Isn’t she adorable? Look at those eyelashes! I’m so jealous! The cutest thing is she holds her pencil like an adult. I couldn’t help but snap a photo :)

The game of the week has definitely been Sorry. The boys want to play it all the time. But I actually think its a fun game so I don’t mind! Plus I love being with them!

And that is a quick recap of some of the stuff that has been going on here. I have had so much fun already and there is still more fun to come!
